Strathclyde RC's education committee is to protest to the Scottish Office after learning of a deregulation measure which one member has dubbed a 'child molester's charter', The Herald reports (p4).

At present groups operating creches and playschemes for less than six days a year are exempted from regulation and police checks, but the government intend to relax the exemption to 60 days.
