The Guardian (September 27, p13) reports that the Salvation Army and Oxfam have been at loggerheads since Devon CC ended the Army's informal agreement to operate textile banks on council sites and put the operation out to tender.

The council has made a deal with Oxfam to continue running the service.

Marguerite Shapland, chair of Devon's joint recylcling committee, said that the tens of thousands of pounds generated annually by the new three year deal with Oxfam would be a big boost to recycling services.
