The Daily Telegraph reported (9 November p3) that Tameside MBC social services had responded to accusations surrounding its 'same race' policy for foster care placements.

The paper reported that two half sisters, one white and the other black, may be placed in separate foster homes.

A Tameside spokesman said: 'We do try to establish the type of family who best fits the needs of every child in our care.'
