In response to a Commons question from Labour MP Clive Betts (Sheffield, Attercliffe), junior environment minister Robert Jones said the DoE had received 39 representations on council building control fees since the increase had been announced.

Of these, 20 were from councils inquiring about the increase in fees for new housebuilding. The rest were mainly from individuals.
