Environment minister Sir George Young has confirmed that Property Holdings has submitted an outline planning application to Westminster City Council for the redevelopment of the Department of Environment's Marsham Street buildings.

He said that dismantling the three unsightly headquarters tower blocks would be good news for Londoners, would improve the Westminster skyline and restore the silhouette of the Houses of Parliament.
