A schoolgirl at Stainforth Middle School, Doncaster was refused permission to use water from a jug made available for children who were taking school meals from a contractor, the Birmingham Post reports (p1).

The case is also featured in other regional papers today and they say an inquiry is to be held by the school.

According to the reports, children who take packed lunches to the school are not allowed jugs of water on their tables and instead have to use a tap at the 'other side' of the school.

The Headmaster of the school is reported as saying the rule should be changed but he had no control over the caterers' rules. A Doncaster council spokesman said the director of education had promised to investigate the matter.
