Doncaster MBC has shortlisted four candidates in a second attempt to fill the post of chief executive.

The Yorkshire Post (p3) reports that the council had originally hoped to appoint a new chief executive in April but the selection procedure was disrupted when the favourite for the post, acting chief Alf Taylor, withdrew his application.

Three other candidates were interviewed but the council decided not to appoint any of them and instead readvertised the job.

Independent consultants have been employed to sift through the 27 applications for the job, which was made vacant after the early reitrement of the suspended Doug Hale last year.
