The Labour group on Doncaster MBC has apologised for its role in the corruption scandals which have dogged the authority in recent months.

The Independent (p6) reports that council leader Malcolm Glover unveiled his party's manifesto for the forthcoming local government elections when he made the apology.

'The last year has been a difficult one for both the Labour party and the people of Doncaster,' he said.

The image of the party, the council and the borough as a whole has suffered because of the activities of a small number of people and the Labour party deeply regrets what has happened.'
