Anti-noise and pro-environmental groups from Heathrow, Stansted, Gatwick and Manchester airports have joined together to make up a new alliance opposed to night flights, reports the Evening Standard (p4).

Save Our Sleep (SOS) is urging holiday-makers, business travellers and airlines not to fly between 11pm and 7am.

The campaigners are also asking charter airlines to invest in larger planes, to reschedule flights for daytime hours and make greater use of the UK's 18 underused major airports, the paper reports.
