A Dorset CC member has reported the authority to the district auditor for spending public money on local government reorganisation.

Don Packwood, councillor for Gillingham, has accused the council of breaking DoE rules about publicity campaigns by spending £2,500 on leaflets and car stickers.

Usually complaints about county councils come from their rivals on district councils.

The auditor has confirmed the complaint is being investigated.

Mr Packwood said the literature was clearly trying to persuade the public to hold a certain view.
