Traffic wardens are to be phased out by Dyfed-Powys Police, reports The Western Mail (p1).

The area's chief constable Ray White says the force's 19 traffic wardens cost£361,000 a year, and they will instead be replaced by 16 new police constables to meet operational needs.

Unison, which represents the wardens, said it would fight the move.
