Ealing LBC is embroiled in a legal row over a social services transport contract.

The council awarded the£1 million a year contract to Brown & Root, which beat off competition from Ealing Community Transport, an existing council supplier.

Ealing Community Transport, a charitable company, claims the council breached tendering procedures, and successfully sought an injunction against the award. This was subsequently overturned, but Ealing Community Transport is now poised to return to the courts in a bid to have the contract ruled invalid.

The council insisted it had 'followed all the statutory requirements and adhered to council standing orders'.

Brown & Root operations manager Bob Kerry said: 'Our priority is to maintain services to vulnerable members of the community.'
