Ealing LBC has been ordered by the high court to provide accommodation capable of housing a family together, reports The Times (Law Report, p47).

The case followed an application by a homeless family for accommodation. The council found temporary lodgings at two separate addresses which the family rejected.

Mr Justice Scott Baker, of the queen's bench division, ruled the council had a duty to house the family under one roof under the Housing Act 1996.
