A cabinet reshuffle in May could see the sacking of social security secretary Harriet Harman, transport minister Gavin Strang and public service minister David Clark, according to The Sun (p2).

Tony Blair has decided to change his team two months earlier than predicted, but it is expected that cabinet hopefuls such as schools standards minister Stephen Byers, will have to wait another year before they are promoted.

Senior figures such as health secretary Frank Dobson, or trade and industry secretary Margaret Beckett may then be the ones who will have to step down to make way for them.
