Schools are facing an exodus of good teachers because of new rules outlawing early retirement for staff over 50, the Observer reported (Jan 20, p13).

It profiled the experience of Hereford and Worcester where 120 teachers have sought early retirement in March. Of these, 39 are heads and 18 are deputy heads.
