Police are investigating claims that a photograph of crucial importance to a 19-year planning battle was altered by East Dorset DC officials.

The Times (p6) reports that haulier David Guppy had been locked in a disputed with the planning department over the use of his haulage yard at St Leonard's near Bournemouth for storing goods between lorry trips.

His claim that the surrounding area had always been used for storage were rejected and was subject to a string of enforcement notices. The decision was based on an aerial photograph submitted by planners; which showed a strip of land next to the disputed ground.

Mr Guppy tracked down an original print, which showed store buildings apparently erased form the council's version.
