East Herts appoints new chief

  • Comment

East Hertfordshire DC has chosen a new chief executive following the departure of Anne Freimanis earlier this year.

Director of customer and community services George Robertson is to combine his existing role with that of chief executive and Ms Freimanis’ old role is to be deleted.

Shortly after Ms Freimanis’ contract was terminated, leader Tony Jackson (Con) said the council would look at alternatives such as doing without a chief executive or sharing the role with another council.

Announcing the appointment of Mr Robertson, left, this week, Cllr Jackson said: “George possesses the necessary vision, strategic skills and experience to meet the future needs of the council and address the challenges ahead”.

Mr Robertson acted as interim head of paid service during Ms Freimanis absence due to sickness in the lead up to her departure.
