The Daily Mail (p19) reports that Eastbourne BC is considering introducing auditions after complaints that tone-deaf street performers are annoying local people.

The authority wants a strict code of conduct to ensure that those with talent rather than just thick skins play on the streets of Eastbourne, says the paper.

Town centre manager Elliott Cairnes said: 'Good street entertainment is an attraction but poor, noisy, repetitive entertainment is annoying and can drive people away.

'Some people are just getting hold of an instrument and playing it badly to get around the begging laws.'
