An all-party delegation of Edinburgh councillors is to press the government to foot the bill for the forthcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting, due to take place in the city in October, the Herald reports (p6).

Even though the government has already pledged to pay for policing costs, the council still faces a bill of£1.7m to cover the cost of street closures, car parking, flags and decorations, and special events.
