UK professionals involved in the planning and organising of millennium events will gather in Edinburgh on March 31 to gain an insight into the experiences of the many agencies involved in Edinburgh's Hogmanay.

Alongside representatives from Edinburgh's Hogmanay project team, including Edinburgh Council, LEEL, Lothian Health, Lothian and Borders Police, Edinburgh and Lothians Tourist Board and Unique Events, senior personnel from several UK police forces and local authorities will contribute to the conference.

Culture secretary Chris Smith will bring a national perspective to the conference, while Scottish broadcaster and journalist, Kaye Adams, will host the event.

In addressing the strategic problems and issues of organising millennium events, the conference will provide an invaluable forum for the exchange of ideas and solutions.
