A new study reveals that schoolgirl mothers have little chance of completing their education successfully, with many education authorities unable to offer adequate support, The Independent reported (6 Aug, p5).

A survey by Bristol University of 98 local education authorities shows the percentage of authorities providing special units for pregnant pupils and schoolgirl mothers has risen from 43% to 60% since a survey in 1987, but even girls who were keen to complete their education find it very difficult, the paper reported.
