A chief executive dismissed on charges of gross misconduct is seeking election to Kent CC. Former Boston BC chief executive Ian Ward is standing as a Conservative in a marginal ward in Kent CC.
Mike Eddy (Lab), against whom Mr Ward is standing, accused the Conservatives of 'contempt' for Kent's people.
'Paul Watkins, the Conservative parliamentary candidate for Dover & Deal, and the leader of Kent, Sandy Bruce-Lockhart, have been happy to support him,' he said. 'That speaks volumes about the Conservative Party.'
Mr Ward was served with a dismissal notice just after he resigned from Boston following an independent investigation found him guilty of gross misconduct. It found the preparation of an in-house bid to run a leisure centre was anti-competitive (LGC, 14 March 1997).
