Westminster City Council staff were kept busy all day when the England rugby team's Sweet Chariot swung low through central London on Monday to celebrate its World Cup victory.

Cleansing staff had to remove more than 200 items of street furniture to accommodate the crowds, and 28 staff and seven vehicles were on hand to clean up after the event.

Road works were secured, parking suspended and inspectors were on hand to tackle unlicensed street trading.
