A plan to impose a ban on slow moving vehicles on the A130 has been scrapped, reported the East Anglian Daily Times (Nov 25, p11).

Essex CC had proposed a weekday ban on vehicles such as tractors and milk floats on the road between Great Leighs and Chelmsford.

But the plan prompted massive opposition from organisations such as the National Farmers' Union, digger companies and dairies.

Essex CC spokeswoman Hazel Smith told the paper: 'It was agreed that the proposal should be dropped,'

She added that there had been 'an incredible amount of opposition and it is clearly a very tricky matter.'
