The four Essex parish councils seeking to force a fresh inquiry into plans for 2,500 homes as part of Stansted Airport's expansion are 'wasting time and money', according to Uttlesford DC's barrister, the East Anglian Daily Times reports (p9).

Birchanger, Takeley, Felsted and Little Dunmow argue that the decision to go ahead with the scheme will destroy the character of their villages.

Duncan Ouseley, for Uttlesford, said that new material needs to be presented in order for a new challenge to be mounted, and said that the villages' new material contained nothing to change the decision of the public inquiry.
