LGC Awards 2017 shortlist revealed

Two metropolitan authorities, two districts, a London borough, and a county council are in the running to be named Council of the Year at the LGC Awards 2017.

In alphabetical order Newcastle City Council, Newham LBC, North Yorkshire CC, Sevenoaks DC, South Norfolk Council, and South Tyneside Council have all been shortlisted for the prestigious prize.

Tameside MBC was named Council of the Year at this year’s awards.

LGC editor Nick Golding said: “We have received record entries for the 2017 LGC Awards, showing councils are even more committed than before to innovating and sharing best practice.

“The LGC Awards will showcase and celebrate the tremendous work of council staff to help local communities in a period of uncertainty.”

The winners will be announced at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 8 March 2017.
