A former council chief executive lost out on a possible redundancy payment because he left for health reasons before a management shake-up saw the authority lose a senior post.

Alan Carr had run Aberconwy BC for two years when he left on medical advice. But he claimed at an industrial tribunal that the council cut senior management from nine posts to eight on his departure, effectively creating a redundancy.

He had offered to stay on until the changeover to Conwy CBC in April. But councillors voted that it was in his best interests to leave on health grounds as soon as possible.
