Extreme weather forced several councils to cancel New Year's Eve celebrations.
Leeds City Council was forced to cancel a stage show costing£50,000 after electrical equipment was deemed unsafe following storms. City centre marketing and events manager Kairen Brown said: 'As this was a specially commissioned piece, Leeds City Council will be able to make use of all the unique props at other times.'
Bradford MDC was also affected when storms forced the cancellation of an outdoor party. A 'skateboard spectacular', music and dance and creative workshops all went ahead. The council said: 'It's difficult to calculate the cost because three events went ahead. We are splitting up the spending to calculate how much the weather cost us.'
Liverpool City Council was hit by the weather, cancelling a fireworks display, laser show and musical stage show.
