Residents in Hammersmith and Fulham LBC want the council to take action against Chris Evans' television programme, complaining about the behaviour of the studio audience. TFI Friday, hosted by Mr Evans, is filmed at the borough's Riverside Studios.

A Hammersmith and Fulham spokesman said: 'The problem is TFI Friday attracts a young crowd which is often drunk by 6.30. They move on to the pubs and go home through the estates being rowdy.'

The council is powerless to tackle unruly behaviour outside the studios, as public order problems are a matter for the police. But Broadway ward member Michael Cartwright is to liaise with the local police to see if the nuisance can be curtailed.

The spokesman said: 'If there was a noise nuisance from Riverside Studios then we license the premises and there are certain steps we can take.' But he said the problems appeared to arise once the audience had left the studios.
