A Labour councillor in Fife has been charged with fraud following an investigation into alleged abuse of expenses.

Alex Sharp, who recently resigned as senior vice-chair for planning and environment, planned to issue a statement saying that he would be 'vigorously defending' the charges, according to Stuart Allen, head of law and administration at the council.

Fife launched an internal investigation into alleged irregularities concerning Mr Sharp's expenses in August this year.
