The Local Government Commission is publishing its final report on the 1992-95 Structural Review on Tuesday 28 March 1995.

The Report sets out the evidence which led the Commission to recommend 50 new unitary authorities in England and to recommend no change to the existing structure in most of rural England.

It sets out the Commission's views on improvements to the two-tier system it believes should be pursued and identifies the main challenges facing local government.

Renewing Local Government in the English Shires: A Report on the 1992-95 Structural Review, will be supplied to local authorities on 28 March.
