Advisors call for public sector reform

  • Comment

The public sector’s organisational shape must change if budget reductions are not to result in staff being asked to do more, or less being delivered, business advisory firm Deloitte has warned.

Deloitte argues in a report that traditional cost cutting and uniform budget cuts may prove unsustainable and damage quality in the long run.

It urges the government and the public sector to review each area of public policy and reshape and resize public sector structures and organisations accordingly.

It says: “The result will be the removal of duplication and layers of management superfluous to frontline delivery and also the merging of numerous public bodies.”
