The Fire Brigades Union's executive council has agreed to suspend the next 8 day strike, which was due to start on 16 December, to allow for talks with ACAS to continue.
The executive council has agreed to submit further strike dates to our employers'. These dates will be given to the press in due course.
FBU general secretary Andy Gilchrist said: 'We are currently involved in talks with ACAS. The executive council is keen to resolve this dispute through a negotiated settlement without the need to take further strike action and has therefore agreed to suspend next week's 8 day strike.
'We have informed our employers' that we are determined to achieve a serious and significant increase in pay for our members and we hope to do this through negotiation. However, should progress halt or fail or if the government or our employers' are no longer seriously negotiating on our claim then the executive council will not hesitate to instruct members to take further strike action.'
