A woman firefighter has returned to work after winning compensation for sexual harassment, reports The Independent (p2).

Jenny Hope was awarded£6,000 in an out of court settlement for claims of offensive behaviour and ridicule at Bedfordshire and Luton Fire Service.

She returned to work after being on sick leave for eight months and three firemen were moved to other stations.

The general secretary of the Fire Brigades Union, Ken Cameron, told The Independent: 'By pursuing sexual harassment cases for members and negotiating proper equal opportunities procedures, we are beginning to change attitudes.'
