Nottingham City Council has launched a card combining travel, libraries, leisure centres and retail.

The first of its kind in the country, Citycard will be available to all residents over 18 on the electoral register.

Nearly 120,000 cards will be mailed to city addresses with one free day of bus travel credited.

Residents will also receive their own personal journey planner with information about their nearest bus stop and bus service and how they can add travel to their new Citycard.

James Bloor, Citycard project manager said: 'Nottingham's public transport network is one of the best in the country and it's important that we encourage more people to turn to public transport and leave their car at home. The Citycard will make it easier and cheaper for people to use the bus and other council services such as libraries and leisure centres'.
