A London borough has become the first in the UK to appoint one person to manage health and social services jointly.
As LGC revealed on 9 February, Julia Ross, director of social services at Barking & Dagenham LBC and a former nurse, is to become the chief executive of Barking & Dagenham Primary Care Trust.
Social services will be delivered in settings such as GP surgeries so staff can work together.
Ms Ross said: 'This model makes it easier to focus on peoples' needs rather than service boundaries.'
