The former deputy leader of Doncaster MBC and the authority's current Tory group leader are among five people charged with corruption in connection with an alleged planning scandal, according to The Yorkshire Post (p1).

Roy Stockhill, who was the Labour-run authority's deputy leader and also a former mayor, and Conservative John Dainty were among five people charged yesterday.

John Hunt, a former senior planning officer, was another of those charged following investgations into a series of planning applications and property developments in Doncaster.

All five poeple have been bailed to appear before magistrates at Rotherham on 11 August.
