Five local councils and Solihull MBC are among the ten winners of a competition for ideas to revive the post of parish constable, the Daily Telegraph reports (p4).

The paper says that the six are Stowmarket town council, Suffolk; Idmiston parish council near Salisbury, Wiltshire; Downley parish council near High Wycombe; Lewannick parish council, Cornwall; Solihull MBC; and Curdworth parish council near Birmingham.

Ideas culled from the winning entries will be used in the pilot schemes throughout the country.
