Flintshire CC has succeeded in finally stopping an unauthorised Saturday market after the company involved, Solitaire, agreed to give up contesting the authority's market rights.

Delyn BC instituted high court proceedings over two years ago, and won an temporary injunction halting the market pending a full hearing.

The case was due to begin on 14 October in the Liverpool high court after the company failed to win a further adjournment following a change of solicitors.

Legal officers for Flintshire CC, the successor authority, say a settlement has now been reached which involves Solitaire paying the council's entire costs.
