London councils are considering housing up to 210 asylum seekers in a floating hotel used by oil workers, reported the Guardian (September 27, p10).

Mooring sites on the Thames and elsewhere are being investigated for the ship by Westminster LBC.

A council spokesman told the paper: the accommodation, apart from being extremely suitable is streets ahead of anything in the centre of London. It is luxurious and of high quality. It has hot and cold waster, central heating, television lounges, fantastic catering facilities and is spotlessly clean.'

Westminster may also try to interest Hackney and Newham LBCs in the project, reported the paper.
