Met Office forecasters have issued early warnings of severe weather

for the UK through the next few days as an active depression tracks

in from the Atlantic through Sunday and Monday.

Following the events of recent days, this active weather system will

bring strong winds for some areas and sweep a band of heavy rain

across the country, with very heavy showers then developing.

40mm of rain are expected for many parts, with locally 70mm in the

heavy showers leading to localised flooding.

Winds will also be strong in places with gusts of 50mph likely across

southwest England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The risk of disruption for various parts of the country is assessed

as:

NORTHERN SCOTLAND 20%

EASTERN SCOTLAND 30%

SOUTH WEST SCOTLAND 40%

NORTHERN IRELAND 50%

NORTH WEST ENGLAND 40%

NORTH EAST ENGLAND 30%

THE MIDLANDS 30%

WALES 50%

SOUTH WEST ENGLAND 50%

CENTRAL SOUTHERN ENGLAND 30%
