The Financial Times (p12) continues its 'cities in business' series with a profile of Birmingham, where foreign investment is said to be 'flowing in'.

The West Midlands attracts more overseas investment than other English regions and Birmingham wins the most, attributed to its industrial tradition and recent improvements.

For those in charge of attracting and keeping investment, the biggest asset is the city's location. It is at the crossroads of the country's road and rail networks and Birmingham International Airport is the UK's fifth largest.
