Former Doncaster MBC education chairman Pat Mullany has been charged with 12 counts of fraud, related to more than£1,300 in alleged falsified expense claims.

Mr Mullany, a former Association of Metropolitan Authorities education chair, lost his council seat in last May's elections. He faces the most charges so far in the Donnygate investigation, and is expected to plead not guilty.

Last week councillor Terry Sellars became the 12th serving or former Doncaster councillor to be arrested in the long-running police investigation into corruption.

A South Yorkshire police spokesman said there would definitely be more arrests in the inquiry, and it was likely to take quite a while longer to wind up.
