People who dump rubbish in streets controlled by Islington LBC now risk being photographed and finding their pictures displayed around the borough, the Evening Standard reports (p23).
Anyone recognising faces from the 'wanted posters' is being urged to call a confidential hotline.
Islington's environment chair Paul Jackson said: 'We are trying to play our part in keeping the streets clean but a small minority is ruining them by going out dumping.
'Our message to them is clear: We are on your trail - we are going to photograph you, find you, and prosecute you,. It's as clear as that.'
The Standard also reports that Islington is recruiting professional witnesses to help catch vandals, drug dealers, and racists on its problem estates.
