Fraud squad detectives have been called in to investigate allegations of corruption and incompetence at Lliw Valley BC centring on the council's direct labour organisation, the Western Mail reports on its front page.

The action comes after the district auditor in a management letter listed 'concerns' about cases of alleged malpractice and corruption relating to housing, leisure and amenities, says the Western Mail.

The council covers an area in the north east of Swansea and the fraud squad has been called in to investigate allegations surrounding the council's direct labour organisation, Lliw Valley Enterprises.

Council leader, Don Young, told a full council meeting yesterday that he rejected most of the allegations in the Districts Auditor's letter.
