Health and social services minister Jane Hutt has confirmed that work on implementing the commitment to scrap charges for home care for the disabled is progressing and that the policy will be implemented.

In a meeting with representatives of Disability Wales yesterday, Ms Hutt said: 'Preparatory work for implementing this assembly government commitment is under way at the moment. Once that is completed a meeting of the advisory group will be convened early in the new year to work on the detail.

'There has never been any doubt that we would honour this commitment and I want to confirm this today. When I have considered the advisory group's report I will consult on my detailed proposals.'
