A French company has written to around 100 local authorities offering to supply a pager system which will alert passengers about the arrival of their bus, reports the Financial Times (p1).

Decaux of France is trying to win support for its£475m bid for More Group, its UK rival in the supply of bus shelters and advertising billboards.

The company added that local authorities could also expect a reduction in rental fees for its 'superloo' automated toilets and a combined bus shelter and public convenience designed by Sir Norman Foster.
