Two pupils from a school attended by the killer of headteacher Philip Lawrence were taken to hospital after a gang attack by knife-carrying youths yesterday, reports The Guardian (p11).

Police said there was no evidence that the attack outside Quintin Kynaston school was perpetrated by anyone from Mr Lawrence's school St George's which is less than a mile away.

The Guardian also reports that a 13-year-old pupil at a Lewisham special school was taken to hospital yesterday after being stabbed with a pair of scissors in an incident involving a 16-year-old boy pupil.
