The Norfolk CC social worker who decided a couple were too 'racially naive' to adopt a mixed race baby read out a statement concerning his personal life and his work on the steps of Norfolk County hall, the Daily Mail reports (p5).

The paper says that the social worker, Terry Dunning, said that his personal life never intruded upon his work.

The couple who were turned down for adopting the baby cast doubts on this says the Daily Mail.

It also reports Norfolk social services director David Wright as saying that Mr Dunning's personal life had no bearing on the case and that there was no evidence that the fact that a member of the council's staff is gay is intruding on decision making.

Mr Dunning's statement is also reported in the Telegraph (p3).
