'The aim of this new committee is to bring together all those involved in road safety under one roof to share ideas and pool resources' said Councillor Terence Lees, Chairman of the new Sub-Committee. 'We want to encourage and generate greater public awareness and involvement in taking measures to improve road safety and attractive place to live, work and play'.
A variety of issues will be considered, including greater traffic calming measures, lowering speed limits, looking at the specific needs of cyclists, disabled people, pedestrians etc. Groups from various concerned organisation will also be invited to put forward their ideas for discussion by the Sub-Committee.
